$10 off $25 at Payless Shoes

Payless Shoes has released a new $10 off $25 promo code.  Enter 78257 at checkout to get $10 off your $25 purchase.  This promo code is good through 8/19/12.

But wait, I hear you say.  Isn't it better to wait for one of Payless' buy-one-get-one-half-off (BOGOHO) sale?

Actually, no, it's not. Let's do the math.

As we've discussed in the past, a BOGOHO sale is the equivalent of 25% off, when both items that you are purchasing are the same price. When the items are different prices, the BOGOHO sale discount is even LESS than 25% off.

AND, you need to buy two items, whether you need to or not.

A $10 off $25 sale is the equivalent of 40% off.  Now the only kicker is, it's very hard to find an item that is exactly $25 or several items that total to exactly $25 on Payless (because most items are priced at 99-cent interval points) and the coupon will not work on a $24.99 purchase.  But, even if you use the coupon code on a $30 purchase, that's the equivalent of 33% off, still better than a BOGOHO sale.  And you won't be forced to buy two items.

(Now, what would be really great would be stacking this promo code with a BOGOHO sale.  But sadly, the Payless BOGOHO sale isn't going on right now.  However, jewelry and hair accessories are currently BOGOHO, stackable with this promo code.)

You can avoid the $5.99 shipping charge by selecting the free ship-to-store option.  Payless Stores are everywhere.

I've found that Payless.com has always had a better selection and more sizes available than an actual Payless store.  And if you'd like to return your purchase, you can avoid shipping fees again by bringing it back to a Payless store.

If you don't like the shoes at Payless.com or find them to be cheap, I encourage you to check out the Accessories section.  I've been buying socks, tights, trendy pocketbooks and hair accessories there for years.  (As far as shoes go, I do buy my "imitation Keds" at Payless, which usually last me about two years on average.)
