I don't know why hearts of palm are so pricey or why kosher hearts of palm in particular are even pricier, but they are certainly an item that I like to buy on sale.
Amazon has a great Subscribe & Save deal on a 12-pack of Galil Hearts of Palm 14 oz. cans, which is priced as low as $2.45 per can with free shipping. While I normally would try to split a Subscribe & Save shipment of a dozen cans of anything, I'm holding on to this one because (added bonus:) these heart of palm are also kosher for Passover. Four of these cans of HoP are going right into my Pesach box. Score.
So first, make sure "clip" the $2.00 coupon that's on the 12-packs. Then , with the Amazon Subscribe & Save discount, this 12-pack of Galil Hearts of Palm 14 oz. cans will cost:
- $31.38 - $2.00 coupon = $29.38 or $2.45 per can with the 15% Subscribe & Save discount, if you can take delivery of 5 or more active subscriptions in one month
- $35.07 - $2.00 coupon = $33.07 or $2.76 per can with the standard 5% Subscribe & Save discount
If you're unfamiliar with Subscribe & Save deals, or would just like a few tips on how best to use the Subscribe & Save program, read my shpiel on Subscribe & Save strategies here.
Remember that you don't need to be a member of Amazon Prime to get free shipping on ANY Amazon Subscribe & Save deal...shipping is free for anyone.
By the way, I have a ridiculously easy recipe for an awesome side dish made with HoP:
Combine. Serve. Delish.
