The best deals on magnetic tile building sets like Magna Tiles, including MagWorld, COSSY, Magrific, PlayMags, Stick 'N Stack, 4D, Picasso Tiles, and the original Magna Tiles (updated 11/27/18)

This is one of my most popular pieces on Daily Cheapskate (hundreds of thousands of hits), that I first posted over four years ago, and have been updating ever since. This is basically THE most comprehensive roundup of magnetic tile deals that you'll find online.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Here's a roundup of the best deals on many of the leading magnetic building sets out there.  I know some of you want only the original Magna-Tiles and some of you want a set that's a little more value-oriented.  So here are THE deals on these building sets: their prices, their ratings, their awards, and their compatibility with other sets.  I couldn't cover every magnetic tile set, as there are so many different kinds now available, but I did hit all the major ones as well as the major vendors.

Please note that there are some newer model sets out there, so even if you've already gotten your child a set, there are lots of ways to renew their interest in playing with it with an "expansion" set. There are also SIX new ValTech Magna-Tile sets for 2018, and two of them are called Magna-Quibix, which use 3D shapes, instead of flat tiles.  I'm very excited about the ways in which the Magna-Tiles concept has managed to expand.

If these numbers and prices are driving you crazy, one easy way to decide which set to purchase, all things being equal and the set having good reviews, is to take the price and divide by the number of pieces in the set. Then you basically have a "price per tile" and a way of comparing apples-to-apples.

The original Magna-Tiles are included near the end of this post, and I've also included a small selection of magnetic tile building idea books at the very end (update: unfortunately, two out of the four are not in print).

No matter which set you end up buying, make sure you download this FREE 15-page Magna Tiles Shape Guide from Valtech (the makers of the original Magna Tiles) to help stimulate your child's creative imagination as he/she plays with these wonderful magnetic tile sets.

    1. Shape Mags are pretty awesome! My 2 year old has been gnawing on them and pretty much putting them through all sorts of abuse, and they're still intact! These are really great learning toys.
