New Amazon photo printing service: Amazon Prints. Prime members, get 50 prints FREE.

In a continuing effort to add value to their $99 Prime Membership, Amazon has added a new Prime Service called Amazon Prints.  If you've got an Amazon Prime membership, you can now take advantage of Amazon's photo printing service, which starts at 9 cents per 4" x 6" print and $19.99 for their photo books. Shipping is free and orders over $15 get free expedited shipping.

Their introductory offer to Amazon Prints is 50 free 4×6 prints with free standard shipping when you enter the promo code BABY50FREEPRINTS at checkout.

The new Amazon Prints service syncs beautifully with Amazon Drive (originally called Prime Photo) offered back here, which gives Amazon Prime members unlimited photo storage in the Amazon cloud drive.  The photos that you take with your phone are automatically stored (via the app) to Amazon Drive, and from there, you can seamlessly print them with Amazon Prints.  It's an Amazon World.

Introductory offers and freebies aside, it's difficult to price-compare this service to Shutterfly and Snapfish, because both of those services are constantly running specials and promo codes (and I'm sure Amazon will as well), but what I really like about Amazon Prints right away is the free shipping. So many of the other photo services have the "pay nothing buy $8.99 shipping" offers, and that bugs me a bit.

In any case, the two bywords for all new Amazon services are evolve and improve.  If you've got photos waiting to be printed, definitely take advantage of their free offer, and let's wait and see where Amazon takes this one.
