ROUND-UP: Rosh Hashana and Succos deals, Part 1

Welcome to Daily Cheapskate's annual round-up of the very best Rosh Hashana and Sukkot deals!  Some of these are re-runs but quite a number of these deals are brand new.

Amazon has got this set of six honey dippers for $9.94 with free Prime/SuperSaver shipping (works out to $1.66 each).  4.7 out of 5 stars over 107 customer reviews.  These are great for Rosh Hashana, if you like to have multiple bowls of honey around the table, and you simply cannot beat this price for the six of them.

Amazon has the Shoham Pomegranate Tool for $12.00 with free shipping.   The Shoham Fruit Company in Israel invented this very clever way of removing the arils (seeds) from a pomegranate in just a few seconds.

Print this $0.75 coupon off Golden Blossom honey, 24 oz. or larger.

Amazon has got the Artscroll Viduy for $2.99 with free Prime/SuperSaver shipping.  (This actually might be very slightly less expensive in-store at local Judaica stores like Eichler's, but if you are buying online and need to pay for shipping, it will be much more expensive than Amazon.)

Amazon has got this apple-shaped glass dish for $8.39 with free Prime/SuperSaver shipping (great for honey on Rosh Hashana).

This was circulating around Facebook last year, and while it's not a "deal" per se,  I just had to share. I'm thinking that I'd to make one of these for each of my Rosh Hashana dinner guests this year. This will make an awesome addition to any Rosh Hashana simanim plate.

This photo was taken this past Pesach, but the price is still good.  Costco has Kirkland Organic Honey, three 24 oz. honeybears for $13.59 ($0.19 per oz.).  This is one of THE best prices I've seen on honey, let alone organic honey.   YMMV.

Amazon has got a large, 3-lb. jar of Y.S. Eco Bee Farm Raw Honey for $19.36 with free Prime/SuperSaver shipping.  Raw honey has the texture of a thick jam, and spreads very easily on challah (and it is crazy delicious).  We always like to put several different varieties of honey on the table on Rosh Hashana and this is one of our favorites. Under CRC hashgacha.

We use a jug with a spigot like this one in our Sukkah for Netilat Yadayim (washing for bread).  It speeds the meal along, eliminating the need to go back in the house to wash your hands. Amazon has this one for $10.27 with free Prime/SuperSaver shipping.  (During the year, we use it as a water carrier for the car when we go on outings or road trips.)

Walmart has their Mainstays 6-foot center-fold table in white for only $38.88 with free in-store pickup.  Shipping is either $4.97 or free with a $50.00 minimum purchase (so if you buy two, they ship for free).   FYI, there are more great deals on outdoor chairs and tables over here

If you're shopping for long tablecloths for Sukkot, this is still one of the best deals around:  Amazon has this 90" x 156" wrinkle- and stain-resistant tablecloth for $11.99 with free shipping.  This tablecloth will fit nicely over your 8-foot tables.   The 60" x 126" length for $10.66 with free Prime/SuperSaver shipping is over here.

These tablecloths are not going to be among your finest linens, but they are durable, wrinkle-free, wash out beautifully, and are a godsend during an 8 day holiday that is replete with huge meals and laundering restrictions.  You can dress them up with a pretty runner and creative place settings.  I think using one of these tablecloths is much nicer than covering a fine tablecloth covered with plastic, but that's just me.
  • 100% polyester (Dacron)
  • fold over hemmed edge
  • seamless, one-piece design
  • stain & wrinkle resistant, machine washable
If you need a round tablecloth instead, here's a 90" round one for $9.29 with free Prime/SuperSaver shipping.

You'll find other lengths and colors of these tablecloths here.

I love the "Looks Like Real" plastic disposable tableware. If you've got to use paper and plastic, it really dresses up the table. It gives me the advantage of setting a lovely Yom Tov table out in the Sukkah without worrying about smashed china, and when the meal is over, everything goes in the trash.

Amazon has got this 160 piece set of Reflections plasticware for $15.99 with free Prime/SuperSaver shipping.   If you're not familiar with Reflections, they are the heavy duty, silver-colored plasticware that very much resemble actual silverware, and are a big step up from regular plastic utensils.  The 160 pieces include 80 forks, 40 spoons and 40 knives.  (Sometimes Costco has this silverware for slightly less than the Amazon price, though I haven't seen it there for almost a year, but it doesn't hurt to call and check.)

Also check out this Table To Go 'I Can't Believe Its Plastic' 50-count Ivory Lace Plate Set on Amazon for $14.94 with free Prime/SuperSaver shipping. (FYI, the ones that I ordered and received were definitely white and not ivory.) This set includes:
  • 25 - 10" dinner plates
  • 25 - 7.5" salad plates
(FYI to East Coast shoppers, if I bought the comparable plates at Amazing Savings, they would cost a total of $22.50.)

If you're buying any Table To Go sets for Sukkot (10/16/16 this year), you must allow at least 4 weeks for shipping, so absolutely buy it now.

Amazon has also the same Table To Go 'I Can't Believe Its Plastic' set but with bowls:  75-count Ivory Lace Plate Set for $21.58 with free Prime/SuperSaver shipping.
  • 25 - 10" dinner plates
  • 25 - 7.5" salad plates
  • 25 - 18 oz. bowls
If I bought these at Amazing Savings, they would cost me a total of $32.50.

Amazon has got this Table To Go 'I Can't Believe It's Plastic' 50-count Ivory and Silver Lace Design Plate Set for $26.48 with free Prime/SuperSaver shipping.
  • 25 - 10" dinner plates
  • 25 - 7.5" salad plates
If I had bought these at Amazing Savings, they would cost me a total of $27.50.

Amazon has got this Table To Go 'I Can't Believe It's Plastic' 75-count white and silver Florence Design Plate Set for $19.33 with free Prime/SuperSaver shipping.
  • 25 - 10" dinner plates
  • 25 - 7.5" salad plates
  • 25 - 18 oz. bowls
If I had bought these at Amazing Savings, they would cost me a total of $32.50.

Amazon has got this Table To Go 'I Can't Believe It's Plastic' 50-count black Scallops Plate Set for $21.80 with free Prime/SuperSaver shipping.
  • 25 - 10" dinner plates
  • 25 - 7.5" salad plates
Again, if you're buying any Table To Go sets for Sukkot (10/16/16 this year), you must allow at least 4 weeks for shipping.

Amazon has dropped the price on this double set of 160-piece Decor Hammered Effect Design Plastic Silverware, down to $24.99 with free Prime/SuperSaver shipping, which comes to $12.50 per set!  This is the lowest recorded Amazon price on this beautiful disposable silverware.  If you've been buying the Reflections set year after year, as I have, this new pattern is a very welcome change.

Amazon has got this 72-foot outdoor solar string light set for just $15.99 with free Prime/SuperSaver shipping (22 cents per foot).  These strike me as an absolutely perfect idea for Sukkot/Succos.  4.9 out of 5 stars over 62 customer reviews

The way it works is this:  the string lights have a small panel that stays exposed to sunlight during the day and then, when night falls and the panel is no longer in the light, the string lights come on automatically.  They operate on solar power, so no outlet or extension cord is needed.  They are rated for outdoor use, so they shouldn't short out when it rains.

This set got 4.9 out of 5 stars over 62 customer reviews, and is an Amazon #1 New Release.

Have you discovered mesh food covers yet for clean and safe outdor dining? Mesh food covers are a great way to be able to put out the food ahead of time without worrying about the flies/bees/mosquitoes eating it before your guests do.

Amazon has this very practical set of two mesh food covers for $4.50 (Amazon Add-On item).

Or you can get a little shmancy and order this cute Woodard & Charles 14" Round Dragonflies Food Dome for $20.98 with free Prime/SuperSaver shipping.  There's also this cherries one for $18.10 or this grapes one for $19.20, and lots more over here.

I got this idea from my sister-in-law, Ellen.  Since you can transfer flame on YomTov (but not on Shabbos), why not glam up your Sukkah at night with some beautiful candle chandeliers?  Amazon has this Shabby Elegance Scrollwork Chandelier for $19.21 with free shipping. These hold just 3 candles, so I would use at least two of them.  And NEVER leave candles burning in an unattended Sukkah.  And instead of candles, I would use tea lights for safety, and if you finish eating before the candles have burned out, bring them in the house with you until they do.

If you don't mind spending a bit more, I also found this beautiful candle chandelier for $30.51 with free Prime/Supersaver shipping.  LOVE this one.

Nothing like a Sukkah full of bees and wasps to spoil a YomTov. Amazon has got this PIC Wasp Trap for $7.60 with free shipping.  (You can get a two-pack of these traps (which look pretty similar) for $10.99 with free Prime/SuperSaver shipping.)
  • No chemicals or poisons.
  • Trap catches wasps, hornets and yellow jackets.
  • 6 Entry tunnels attract from all directions.
  • Special design that lures insects in and never out.
  • Makes being outdoors safer.

Finally, planning on taking any trips during Chol HaMoed?  This Folding Pop-Up Travel Sukkah with bamboo schach is $158.50 + $11.49 shipping = $169.99 on Amazon.

I post some more YomTov deals at the start of next week in Part 2 of this post.
