Guest Brag of the Week

I learn from my readers all the time.

Most of the time, I go on about how you can save money by buying the things you need when you don't need them; waiting for a sale to coincide with a coupon, free shipping and cash back....then pouncing.

But sometimes, it's so much simpler than that.  Sometimes, all you need to do is pay attention.

Take a look at DailyCheapskate reader Abe S.'s Office Depot receipt above.  He ordered 103 reams of paper from Office Depot (that's more than 5 cases) and paid just $44.06. How was this even possible?  I see that he had a $10 coupon and free delivery.  But the real "brag" factor here is how he ordered each ream at the ridiculous price of $0.49 each.  I asked him how he managed to do that.

In response, he sent me a scan of this Office Depot catalog page:

Very simple:  Abe paid attention.  He looked through the catalog, noticed the sale price of $0.49 on a ream of paper that normally cost $6.49, didn't see any quantity restrictions, and struck while the iron was hot.  Fantastic.  Sometimes saving money is just a matter of being observant.

Pairing this sale with the $10 coupon brought the price of each ream down to $0.39.

Brilliant brag.  Abe S., I tip my frugal hat to you.

Got brag?  Let me know and I'll happily post it.
