Comcast changes the terms of service without adequate notice: time to renegotiate
Did your cable company recently move the Turner Movie Classics channel from a standard to a premium package? Comcast did.
Oops.
Here's the deal: because Comcast made changes to their contract without notifying their customers a month in advance, that means that they violated the terms of your contract, and you can get out of the contract without penalty. Yup. And that means you can give them a call and negotiate down your monthly bill.
If you recall, I called Comcast back in May because our bill was too high. All I had to say was that I was interested in switching to Dish Network and I was switched to their "Retention Department." I was able to negotiate $55.50 off our monthly bill, plus I snagged an extra premium movie channel.
I just got off the phone with Comcast, and I was able to get an additional $10 off our bill for 6 months plus a $50 credit and another free premium movie channel. That $110 credit will enable us to upgrade to a High Definition cable box ($10 per month) for almost a year for free.
If your cable provider is Comcast or has changed the lineup on your contract without notifying you 30 days in advance, give them a call and do a little renegotiation. And please let me know how much you saved!
