Buy a Serta mattress at Big Lots (yes, Big Lots) and get the boxspring for $10-$20

Here's a case of employing out-of-the-box-thinking in order to save money.  I would never think about getting a bed from a Big Lots store. To me, that's like buying a cheapola mattress from a dollar store.  Yuck.
