Did peanut butter prices go up, as predicted? You betcha.

A friend of mine posted a picture of the peanut butter shelves at King Soopers today, expressing her dismay at the current high price of peanut butter.

That reminded me that I did a post back here in October, when the first warnings about soaring peanut butter prices came out.  We've been eating-down our stash of Skippy Peanut Butter, Reduced Fat Super-Chunk that I bought back then for $2.17 per 16.3 oz. jar (still four jars to go) so I haven't really been paying much attention to the peanut butter prices in the grocery stores or online. I thought it would be interesting to repost the links from October here, updated with the current prices.
So using this very small, unscientific sample as a gauge, the prices of various peanut butter items have gone up from 25%-246% in the last 7 months.  If peanut butter is one of your often-bought staples, you can see why it's important to keep a rein on your grocery budget, and to stockpile on the things you need when you can

  1. Agreed. We just ran out of our stock recently. Replenishment came through the store-brand version. I prefer Skippy, but this is good enough until the prices go back down. (Besides, PB is not part of our daily diet.)
