This valuable freebie is for my wonderful senior Daily Cheapskate readers. After you have been a AAA member for fifty consecutive years, you can get a free basic AAA membership for you and your spouse (normally $75 + $37) forever. You have to ask for this discount by calling your state's AAA office; it will not be automatic. Considering that many people start driving in their teens, it's not uncommon to find members who have held fifty-year AAA memberships.
This freebie tip was given to me by my husband's Uncle Nathan, who has actually been taking advantage of this discount for a couple of years. The free membership is for the basic AAA plan; you can upgrade from there and pay the difference.
