How to store your fresh fruits and vegetables
I am so tired of wasting produce. I feel like I knock myself out couponing and budgeting to get the best deals on produce, and then spend a ton of time preparing and cooking them, and boom, just like that, it's a week or two weeks later, and I'm throwing out my hard work into the trash bin. I estimate that I probably waste about 25% of my produce purchases, and that's just too much.
Passover was the straw that broke the camel's back. We eat a ton of produce over Pesach, because most produce (kitniyos excepted) is naturally kosher for Passover and doesn't become more pricey as the Passover season approaches. But my overstuffed refrigerator became a Petri dish of wilted and spoiled produce as the holiday advanced, and I'm convinced that much of it was because I didn't store things properly. So, new item on the resolution list for this year: WASTE LESS PRODUCE.
Here's an excellent article from Vegetarian Times on how to properly store your fruits and vegetables. For me, this is going to be step one.
