I don't know why hearts of palm are always so pricey or why kosher hearts of palm in particular are even pricier (usually about $4+ per can). Amazon has got this 12-pack of Galil Hearts of Palm 14 oz. cans for $36.92 with free Prime shipping, which comes to $3.08 per can.
(Parenthetically, these seem to be kosher for Passover, though I'm not certain, so please don't shoot me if you order them and they aren't!)
By the way, I have a ridiculously easy recipe for an awesome side dish made with HoP:
Combine. Serve.
