Now keep in mind that these are all auto-renewal subscriptions, which means that if you don't cancel them, they will renew automatically at the current price on your credit card after one year. Since you don't want that to happen, make sure you set your cancellation ahead of time in your Amazon Subscription Manager.

Welcome to the second edition of Daily Cheapskate's new Friday feature: the 'Bestest' Deals of the Week!
Each Friday I hope to summarize the deals from the past week that are still available and that I thought were the absolute 'bestest'. It's a way of giving you a second shot at taking advantage of these great deals without having to spin backwards through the site. These are the deals that were the best prices for the greatest value, got the most reader feedback, and had the greatest number of readers taking advantage of them. Like I said, just the 'Bestest' Deals all around.
Without further ado, here are this week's 'Bestest' Deals:
Amazon has got this 12-count package of black fine-point Sharpies for $4.14. This is an Amazon Add-On item, which means it ships for free with a $25 purchase (and counts towards that $25) if you are a Prime member and ships for free with a $35 purchase (and counts towards that $35) if you are not a Prime member.
Amazon has got First Aid Basics: How to Identify and Treat Life-Threatening Emergenciesavailable for a free download for a limited time. I just downloaded it and skimmed through it. It is one of those e-books that was never really meant to be an actual book, but just a quick summary of the topic at hand. It give some a few short paragraphs on some very relevant medical emergencies: anaphylaxis, asthma attacks, bites & stings, bleeding, broken bones, sprains & strains, burns, choking, concussion, dehydration, eye injuries, fever, nosebleeds, and seizures.
Since Amazon's #1 seller is the Kindle, they call e-books "Kindle books," but if you don't own a Kindle, it's not a problem at all to read this with ease. Try installing the Universal Kindle Reading App first, before any of the ones below. It should work on most devices.

Wow, Rosh Hashana is now only 4 weeks aways. Gulp.
I've been getting a raft of emails asking for deals on Rosh Hashana and Sukkot items. I put together a few early bird deals for those of your who are getting it together in advance (and may you be an inspiration to my sloth).
I'm going to reiterate what I say every year. On some of these items you might be able to do better in local stores, but please remember that not all of us are fortunate enough to live near wonderful stores like Amazing Savings, and even if you do, the convenience factor of ordering online in the pre-YomTov chaos might outweigh a slight difference in price. Nevertheless, please make sure you let me know if you find a better price elsewhere online.
In my neighborhood, the least expensive place to buy honey for YomTov is Costco:
This photo was taken this past Pesach, but the price is still good. Costco has Kirkland Organic Honey, three 24 oz. honeybears for $11.69 ($0.16 per oz.). This is a fantastic price on honey, let alone organic honey. These 24 oz. bears are huge, and since they are also kosher for Passover, throw one bear in your year-round Pesach non-perishables box. For some reason, the Kirkland organic honey is less expensive than the Kirkland non-organic honey (which costs about $0.17 per oz.). YMMV.
Amazon has these gold-plated rose demi spoons for only $11.95 with free Prime/SuperSaver shipping on Amazon. That rose detail on the handle is really pretty. I know they're meant for coffee. but I can use them for my honey platter and lots of other things (desserts, etc.). At slightly less than $3 per spoon, the price is definitely right.
If you're unfamiliar with Subscribe & Save deals, or would just like a few tips on how best to use the Subscribe & Save program, read my shpiel on Subscribe & Save strategies here. Remember that you don't need to be a member of Amazon Prime to get free shipping on ANY Amazon Subscribe & Save deal...shipping is free for anyone.
This was circulating around Facebook, and I just had to share. I'm thinking that I'm going to make one of these for each of my Rosh Hashana dinner guests this year. This will make an awesome addition to any Rosh Hashana simanim plate.
Moving forward to Succos....
The best price on basic folding chairs is $9.98 at Lowe's. You can either a) get free shipping when you buy 5 or more (free shipping starts at $49) or b) pick them up for free at a Lowe's store or c) shipping for one to four chairs starts at $5.99.
Amazon has got the 160 piece set of Reflections plasticware for $16.18 with free Prime/SuperSaver shipping. If you're not familiar with Reflections, they are the heavy duty, silver-colored plasticware that very much resemble actual silverware, and are a big step up from regular plastic utensils. The 160 pieces include 80 forks, 40 spoons and 40 knives. That's 40 settings, at $0.40 per setting. I love this plasticware. If you've got to use paper and plastic, it really dresses up the table. (Sometimes Costco has this silverware for slightly less than the Amazon price, though I haven't seen it there for almost a year, but it doesn't hurt to call and check.)
These tablecloths are not going to be among your finest linens, but they are durable, wrinkle-free, wash out beautifully, and are a Godsend during an 8 day holiday that is replete with huge meals and laundering restrictions. You can dress them up with a pretty runner and creative place settings. I think using one of these tablecloths is much nicer than covering a fine tablecloth covered with plastic, but that's just me.
We use a jug with a spout like this one in our Sukkah for Netilat Yadayim (washing for bread). It speeds the meal along, eliminating the need to go back in the house to wash your hands. Amazon has this one for $8.97 with free Prime/SuperSaver shipping. (During the year, we use it as a water carrier for the car when we go on outings or road trips.)
I got this idea from my sister-in-law, Ellen. Since you can transfer flame on YomTov (but not on Shabbos), why not glam up your Sukkah at night with some beautiful candle chandeliers? Amazon has this Shabby Elegance Scrollwork Chandelier for $17.61 with free Prime/SuperSaver shipping. These hold just 3 candles, so I would use at least two of them. And NEVER leave candles burning in an unattended Sukkah. Use tea lights for safety, and if you finish eating before the candles have burned out, bring them in the house with you until they do.
This is part 1 on my YomTov deals....part 2 will be posted very shortly. YomTov is a-comin' ladies and gents, so start your engines....
