"Tuna Pouch Friday" at Starkist: print your $0.50 off coupon today

Through April 6, you can check in on the Starkist Facebook page for a re-set coupon out for $0.50 off any one Starkist tuna pouch.  These coupon are available only on Fridays.  Go to the Starkist Facebook page. like them and click on the "Tuna Pouch Fridays" tab. At the very bottom of the page is a link to the coupon for $0.50 off one Starkist pouch.  You may print this coupon twice.

I'm definitely going to use this one at King Soopers (Denver's Kroger affiliate), as they double coupons up to a dollar.  Since Starkist pouches go on sale cyclically for about $1, this could mean a free item.

The end is near! (The end of the month, that is.)

How did this happen?  Weren't we just getting ready for Purim?

Here's your reminder that the end of the month is nigh upon us; tomorrow is March 31, 2012, which means we can look forward to some new coupons popping up in the changing of the (coupon) guard.  It also means that many of your favorite coupons, you know, the ones you've been meaning to print but haven't gotten round to, are going to disappear.  If you've got any coupons on Coupons.comSmartSourceRed PlumWhole FoodsTargetBetty Crocker, or Cellfire that you've been eyeing, now is a good time to put paper in the printer.

Don't forget to get your $10 Costco cash card when you pay your wireless bill with your AmEx.  That offer also expires tomorrow.  And if you have an Amazon Visa Rewards card, take advantage of the 20% off that you will get when you use it to pay for groceries on Amazon.  That also expires on 3/31/12.

Personally, I'm looking forward to April.  March has been a bit challenging.

Good-glass-salad-bowl $16.76

We are starting to bring up our Pesach stuff from the basement.  I was carrying up the box that held my good-glass-salad-bowl when one of our dogs decided it would be a good time to play with me.  In fending her off, I dropped the good-glass-salad-bowl box.  No more good-glass-salad-bowl.  :(

So after not reprimanding my dog the way I should have, I went in search of another good-glass-salad-bowl.   We eat a giant salad at every meal on Pesach, and a good-glass-salad-bowl is an absolute must-have. I have some smaller glass mixing bowls that I picked up at Ikea, but I wanted something with a bit of design to it, and the Ikea bowls are very stark looking.  I also told myself that I was not spending a penny more than twenty bucks, even if I found the good-glass-salad-bowl to end all good-glass-salad-bowls.

I fell in love with this one.  It's Anchor Hocking, which means it's good quality and a good weight, it's got some bonus servers (which are plastic, which I'm not crazy about, but I don't really care about them...I'm focused on the bowl) as a perk, and best of all, it's got a slight tulip curve and a nice design detail on the rim and without being fussy.  I hate fussy bowls. And my new good-glass-bowl is $16.76 with free Prime or SuperSaver (minimum order $25) shipping.  Sold.

Last minute Pesach deal: 32 oz. Realemon juice for $2.84

I've been reading friends' Facebook posts on their hunts for last minute items for Pesach, and apparently there is a dearth of reasonably priced Realemon juice in some areas.  Amazon has got a great price on it, but this is a definitely a bulk deal, so you will want to get together with friends on this.

Get twelve 32 oz. bottle of Realemon for $34.08 with free shipping.  This works out to be $2.84 per bottle, which is a great deal.

(Want to hear another great Pesach money saver on KLP lemon juice?  Buy lemons and squeeze.)

Buying off-season: Chanukah stuff on clearance at Oriental Trading Company and YES, I know we're a week away from Passover

I haven't lost my mind.  I know we're in the middle of Nissan, and barely a week away from Pesach.  BUT, a great way to save money on things you will use is to buy them when no one else is interested in buying them.  Hence, Chanukah shopping in March.

Oriental Trading Company has got free shipping today and tomorrow (3/28/12-3/29/12) ONLY, and they have some fun Chanukah stuff on major clearance. Take a look.

I'm getting this 8-sheet set of Chanukah wrapping paper for $1.59.

And then there's this cute Chanukah stuffed bear for $3.99.

And lots of other finds. Make sure you scour their clearance section to snag some great chatchkas and toys.

And while you're there, pick up lots of frogs and sunglasses and wild beasts for your Seder table. Because, you know, next week is Pesach.....

SodaStream Jet Home Soda Maker for $67.99 with Kohl's card or $76.99 without Kohl's card PLUS $10 in Kohl's cash, today only

My husband's been hankering for a SodaStream  for a while now, so I've been watching for sales.  We're considering getting one for Pesach, since it's a great healthy and frugal alternative to pricey KLP soda. Kohl's has one on sale, and with promo codes and Kohl's cash, this is a real steal.  Here's how to score one for $67.99 shipped if you've got a Kohl's credit card and $76.99 shipped if you don't.

If you have a Kohl's credit card:
  1. Add the SodaStream Jet Home Soda Maker to your cart.  It's currently on sale for $89.99.
  2. Use promo code JELLYBEAN (expires 3/31/12).  The price should drop by 30%  to $62.99.
  3. Shipping is free but there is a shipping "surcharge" of $5 (not sure why they bother saying shipping is free but ok).
  4. Your total checkout total (excluding tax) is $67.99.   If you make the purchase today (3/28/12), you will also receive $10 in Kohl's Cash, good for a future purchase.  The Kohl's cash will come via promo code to your email inbox.

If you don't have Kohl's credit card:
  1. Add the SodaStream Jet Home Soda Maker to your cart.  It's currently on sale for $89.99.
  2. Use promo code SMS9717.  The price should drop by 20% to $71.99.
  3. Shipping is free but there is a shipping "surcharge" of $5 (not sure why they bother saying shipping is free but ok).
  4. Your total checkout total (excluding tax) is $76.99.   If you make the purchase today (3/28/12), you will also receive $10 in Kohl's Cash, good for a future purchase.  The Kohl's cash will come via promo code to your email inbox.

SodaStream Jet Home Soda Maker features:

Pyrex baking items under $10

The Amazon kitchen sale is still on, and there are still some really nice finds to be had. I'm a big Pyrex fan (safer than aluminum, tougher than glass, non-porous, and goes in the dishwasher), and I noticed some excellent deals for under $10.  Actually, under $9.

This Pyrex 2 1/2 quart mixing bowl is $8.21 with free Prime or SuperSaver (minimum $25 order) shipping. I actually have four of these bowls and I use them constantly, not just for baking, but for salads and cooking in general.

This Pyrex 8" square baking pan is $7.99 with free Prime/SuperSaver shipping.  It has extra large handles so you don't drop the brownies (been there, done that. Who's nodding along with me?).

This Pyrex 1 1/2 quart loaf dish is $7.49 with free Prime/SuperSaver shipping.  "But Susie," you're saying.  "I have no immediate plans to bake any loaves."  Ah, but I use these all the time, because while I can fit only two 9" x 12" pans on my warming tray, I can fit four of these babies.  The small footprint of these pans makes it much easier to warm up a greater quantity of food simultaneously on Shabbat or Yom Tov.  (Parenthetically, I also do make a very scrumptious turkey loaf and layered gefilte fish loaf in these things.)

This Pyrex 1.3 quart oval baking dish is $7.49 with free Prime/SuperSaver shipping.  This is perfect for smaller recipes and because it's that purty oval shape, it can go right on your table (on a trivet).

WOW! Reflections "silverware" service for 40, $18.30 with free Prime shipping

When I came across this deal, I couldn't order it fast enough!

Get 160 pieces of Reflections plasticware for just $18.30, with free Amazon Prime or SuperSaver (minimum $25 purchase) shipping.  If you're not familiar with Reflections, they are the heavy duty, silver-colored plasticware that very much resemble actual silverware and are a big step up from regular plastic utensils.  I still had a stash from my last trip home to Brooklyn, where they can be had for a similar price, but I was worried that it wouldn't get me through all of Pesach.  When I saw this deal on Amazon, I bought two boxes (thinking about Sukkot...).  And quickly.

The 160 pieces include 80 forks, 40 spoons and 40 knives.  That's 40 settings, at (gulp) $0.46 per setting.   Major steal.

Cascade Action Pacs 60 count for $10.17 ($0.17 per pack)

My go-to/stock-up price for dishwasher detergent packs is usually $0.15 each.  With some rare deals, I've gotten them for as little as $0.10 each, but not lately.

So when I started running low this week, I found this deal for just slightly under $0.17 per pack, and considering that you don't even need to leave the house to buy them, this is a pretty frugal deal.

Get this 60-count box of Cascade Action Pacs for just $10.17, or $0.17 per pack.  Here's how:

  1. Click here and "clip" the $0.25 coupon (scroll down slightly).
  2. Select the Subscribe & Save option of $10.42.  Remember, it is super-easy to UNsubscribe to any Subscribe & Save option once your order has shipped.  Even if you forget, Amazon will notify you by email before they send out any Subscribe & Save order, and you will have time to cancel.  No risk.
  3. Because this is a Subscribe & Save deal, shipping is free.
  4. Check out.  Your total will drop to $10.17 shipped at checkout, or $0.17 per Action Pac.

If you're still kinda iffy about Subscribe & Save, read all the details about S&S here. You'll see that selecting  a Subscribe & Save option has virtually no downside.

Coupons for this week

Heavy-duty clear vinyl table covers, from $8.55

A few of you have written to me about finding good, heavy-duty, clear table covers to put over your Passover tablecloths.  Pesach is challenging in that we have two festive meals each day, usually with guests, but can't do laundry on Chol Hamoed.  Unless you own lots and lots of tablecloths, it's hard to start each meal with a clean, attractive table.  Oh, those grape juice stains and matzoh crumbs!

I hate using those disposable, flimsy, plastic tablecloths.  Besides being pricey and not very green, they always end up tearing or pulling, and frankly just don't look very nice.

We use a very heavy-duty clear vinyl to cover our Pesach tablecloths.  It wipes clean and doesn't look cheesy.  I actually had mine cut specifically to the dimensions of my dining room table at Joanne's.   I've suggested that to some of you and the response has been: no time!  too much trouble!

So if you're looking for a heavy-duty clear vinyl tablecloth cover, Amazon has got some great solutions available.  All of these ship free with Amazon Prime or SuperSaver ($25 minimum purchase), have finished edges and are a heavy .006 gauge or 7ml:
Please let me know if you need other sizes and I'll scout around.  And if you do decide to use a clear vinyl tablecloth protector, don't forget to have some fun with Pesach themed decorations-under-the-vinyl, like my friend Talia did back here.

Passover Tea Box, $16.13 with free Amazon Prime shipping, plus lots of $2 boxes of KLP tea

I've been having major Passover Tea Box Envy, but given how expensive pre-filled Passover tea boxes are, I thought they were out of our reach.  Then I hit on the idea of buying an empty box and filling it myself.

I just ordered one of these for us.  Get this designer tea box with a glass lid for just $16.13 with free Amazon Prime or SuperSaver (minimum purchase $25) shipping.  We like to offer tea and coffee to our guests after a meal, and until now, I've kept our many different flavor KLP teabags in a basket.    Efficient but not so elegant.  This is the lowest price I've seen on a finished wood tea box ever, especially with a glass lid.

Make sure you fill it up with KLP Bigelow Tea (my personal favorite; delicious and cheap).  The list of Kosher for Passover (Kof-K) Bigelow teas are here.
You can split these 6-packs with friends or stockpile them or use them during the year.  Voila, instant KLP tea box, for much, much less than what you pay for a pre-stocked one, and lots of extra tea to refill it.

Get half off up to 3 items at The Limited

Get 50% off up to three items at The Limited, in-store only.  Print a coupon here for 50% off original ticket prices on three item at The Limited from 3/27/12-3/29/12.  Cannot be combined with other offers.  One coupon per customer.

Free sample Bigelow Tea

Request your Bigelow tea sample:  go to the Bigelow Tea Facebook page and like them.  Click on the "Free Sample Giveaway" tab and then the "Enter Now" button.  Fill out the form to request your free sample of Bigelow tea.

I'm not sure which flavor they will send and it is timed to arrive after Pesach, but most flavors of Bigelow are kosher under the Kof-K and many flavors are also kosher for Pesach under the Kof-K.
