Congratulations to Krystyna Lineberry of Richmond, Virginia on winning this new electronic Crock Pot with Smart Cook technology! Thanks to all for entering.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
It's giveaway time!
I tried my hardest to get this out way in advance of Pesach, but the timing just didn't work out. However, I'm sure this is an item that you can happily use in your everyday kitchen as well!
Jarden, the folks who own Crock Pot (the first and IMHO, the best slow cooker) have just come out with a brand new electronic version: this wonderful new 6.5 quart slow cooker with eletctronic controls. The new Crock-Pot Slow Cooker with Smart Cook Technology has some really practical and smart features:
- Smart Cook Technology allows you to select your "Ready At" time and your protein type, allowing the slow cooker to do all the thinking.
- 6-8 hour recipes can be extended for up to 12 hours & 10-12 hour recipes can be shortened to 6 hours.
- Slow cooker automatically shifts to convenient "keep-warm" mode when cooking is complete. (No more burnt soups or cholents.)
- 6.5 quart capacity with touchscreen user interface.
- At-a-glance cooking and keep warm indicator lights included.
- Slow cooker serves 7+ people.
- Polished stainless steel exterior.
- Stylish metal handles with silicone wrap.
- Removable oval stoneware. I prefer an oval to a round shape slow cooker, for oddly-shaped or elongated roasts.
- Dishwasher-safe stoneware and glass lid. (A must.)
- BONUS: Cookbook included.
This Crock Pot is currently selling for $69.99 $99.99, but one fortunate Daily Cheapskate reader is going to get one shipped to his/her home for free, courtesy of the very generous folks at Jarden.
Here's all you need to do to enter the giveaway:
I'll choose a winner at random on April 10, 2013.
Now, those of you who have been reading this blog for a long time know that I rarely do giveaways, and that when I do, they are generally low-entry. That means that you stand an excellent chance of actually winning this Crock-Pot!
In order to be qualified to enter, you must be over 21, with a mailing address in the Continental U.S., and not my husband or an employee of Jarden. In full disclosure, Jarden is also giving me a Crock-Pot as well, which I will review for Daily Cheapskate at some later point. Fulfillment of this giveaway will come directly from Jarden.
Here's all you need to do to enter the giveaway:
- "Like" Daily Cheapskate on Facebook (if you already do, great!).
- "Like" Crock Pot on Facebook.
- Leave a comment on this post with your name (at least your first name and last initial) and email address. Leave your email address in this format: frugalskate at gmail dot com (to keep spammer-bots away). If you don't leave your email address, I can't count your entry, because I have no way of contacting you if you win. I know that the logistics of commenting on a blog are often confusing, so unless you want to comment with your gmail profile, I suggest using the "Name/Url" option, where you can leave the url part blank. In the comment, please tell me what your favorite Crock-Pot dish is!
You will still need to leave a comment on this post.

My favorite crock pot dish is the authentic Bucharian-Shabbat-Lunch dish called Osvo. Very easy to put together, let the crock pot do its job (start before shabbat and done by lunch time) and, voila, a delicious meal...I would love a crock pot that would turn the temp from Low to Keep Warm...had to return a new crock pot because it burned half of the Osvo...such a shame.

My wife cooks a delicious chulent (key ingredient: a few bay leaves) in what actually is my sister-in-law's crock pot (ours stopped working many months ago). We are still searching for a crock pot whose "low" temp. setting isn't as high as what nowadays is called "low"!
Best wishes to all for a Chag Pesach Kasher v'Sameach! and many thanks to the owner of this 'blog for her daily efforts.

Oh, to have this WONDERFUL Crock-Pot! We kashered our kitchen last year and I wasn't able to get a new one, so I've been without one for a YEAR, and it's been HARD to have good, warm food on Shabbos day, because we have no way to keep things warm! My daughter LOVES cholent, and we never have it...:(

I love to make the easiest chicken around; we call it crockpot chicken. It's great that I can make it in less than five minutes, put it in the crockpot, and go to work knowing that the house will smell delicious and I'll have yummy supper all ready and waiting for me when I get home. And a crockpot that can shorten or lengthen the cook time and keep it warm so that it's ready for my kid's supper and still warm for mine...that's amazing
Best crockpot dish is chili !! would love a new crockpot.

I have been trying new recipes this past week. Last night it was my first Lasagna ever and I made it in the Crock Pot! On Wednesday it was Rotisserie Chicken in the Crock Pot (who knew?!) Today I am "baking" a loaf of bread. So far Lasagna is my favorite, though I also think my Pot Roast is pretty fantastic.
