Brand new savings program at Target: Cartwheel offers

Check out Target's brand new savings program, Cartwheel.  You need a Facebook account in order to join, but it's very simple to use.  And the best news of all, is that, while before you could stack one manufacturer's coupon with one Target store coupon for each item that you purchased at Target, you can now also stack a Cartwheel offer with those savings, AND you can use your Target RedCard to get yet an additional 5% off on top of that.  I LOVE LAYERED DISCOUNTS.

Here's how Cartwheel works.

Click  over here and log in with your Facebook account (I'll show you how to go back in to your Facebook account and protect your privacy in a second).

Search for a Cartwheel offer that you'd like by browsing through the categories, using the search box, and then just click on the offer to flip it and add it to your cartwheel.  I made my Cartwheel list by just searching on things I regularly buy, like "produce" (I got an offer for 5% off bagged oranges, bagged apples, and berries), "frozen," "light bulbs" and "Diet Coke."  Parents, don't forget to search on "diapers" and "toys."

When you start, you'll be allowed 10 Cartwheel offers (although I snagged an eleventh just by browsing through a specific category and a twelfth after the first time I used Cartwheel).  You'll be able to tell that an offer is in your cart after you select it when the red star in the upper right-hand corner turns into a checkmark.  If you change your mind about an offer, you can remove it by clicking on it and selecting "remove."

You are allowed to use Cartwheel offers on up to four all of the items on your Cartwheel list daily, and there is a limit of six Cartwheel transactions per day you can use your list six times per day. Once you have filled in all 10 Cartwheel offers, you can either print off your Cartwheel list with a code on top that you show to the cashier when you're checking out in the store, or (much greener) you can send this url to your smartphone: https://cartwheel-secure.target.com/barcodeprint and just have the cashier scan the code right off your phone.

If you have questions about using Cartwheel, you can access its Help Center here.

Now, back to Facebook privacy.  Whenever I use my Facebook account for an app in order to get an offer or a coupon, I always go back into my Facebook account and delete the app.  However, Cartwheel is an app I plan to be using steadily. so I'm going to leave it in my Facebook account, but I still want to protect my privacy nevertheless.  Here's how. Go into your Facebook account and click on the lock icon in the upper right-hand corner,

and then click on "See More Settings" at the bottom.  Look over at the column on the left, and then click on "Apps."  You'll see "Cartwheel by Target" listed there.

Click on "Edit" and then change "Visibility of App" to "Only Me" and where it says "This app can also" just remove "Post on your behalf."  The app will still work fine.  This minimally protects your privacy in that all the app is allowed to do is access your basic info and email address and nothing more.

Have you tried Cartwheel yet?  Let me know what you think.
