You're engaged! Mazel tov! Congratulations! Here are the three best wedding registries to sign up for

You're engaged!  Yay!  Mazel tov!  Congratulations!  Showers and showers of happiness upon you and your spouse and your families.

Okay.  Now what?

No doubt, you've got a long list of things to do before your wedding, and some of them are tedious and some of them are awesome.  Among the list of much funner pre-marital must-dos are registering for gifts. I consider registering for gifts a way of behaving thoughtfully to your guests; for the guests who want to give you something more personal than a check, it's a genteel way of telling them that these are things that you need to set up your new household. It's also a great way of ensuring that you don't end up with 14 Lenox punch bowls.

Retailers make out like bandits over weddings, and they will give brides and grooms all sorts of nice gifts and freebies to entice you to create your wedding registry on their website.

Here are (in my humble opinion) the three BEST registries that you can sign up for and their accompanying perks.  You have absolutely nothing to lose and everything to gain by signing up for all three initially, even if you end up not using all of them, and each signup takes just a few minutes.  Make sure you add at least one item to each registry (you can always remove it later) when you sign up to make sure you have a "placeholder;" sometimes websites do housekeeping and wipe out empty registries before couples have a chance to fill them up with their wishlist.

#1: Amazon Wedding Registry (now with even BETTER benefits).  Amazon is not only the king of retail; they currently have the best wedding registry program, especially if you're an Amazon Prime member.

Sign up for an Amazon Wedding Registry here (and add at least one item as a "placeholder") and check out these benefits:
  • Amazon Wedding Registry 10%/20% Completion Discount:  A one-time 10% discount for non-Prime members, (up to $100 on $1,000 worth of items,) and 20% discount for Amazon Prime members, (up to $500 on $2,500 worth of items,) is offered on select items from your registry, good for up to 90 days after your event date. (The Prime 20% off Wedding Gift promotion will be limited to Prime customers who are members of Campus, Fresh, Prime Members with Shipping Benefits, Prime members with Mom benefits. This excludes trial, Student and Invitee members.) Details here.
  • Bonus Brand Completion Bonuses:  Since these tend to rotate over time, the current offers are listed here.  At the time of this posting, you can get valuable gifts for completing a Lenox, Nordic Ware, All-Clad, Calphalon, Global/Scanpan, Nesspresso, Le Creuset, and Vitamix registry on Amazon.
  • Universal Registry Capability:  Add items from other websites to your registry with the Amazon Universal Registry Button.

#2: Target Wedding Registry

  • Target Wedding Registry 15% Completion Discount:  15% discount on everything left on your registry after the big day.  This is not including your 5% RedCard discount. (If you don't have a RedCard, get one now.)
  • Bonus Brand Completion Bonuses:  Since these tend to rotate over time, the current offers are listed here.  At the time of this posting, you can get valuable gifts for completing a GreenPan, Keurig, Circulon, 10 Strawberry Street, Corningware, Joseph Joseph, Thirstystone, Luigi Bormioli, J.A. Henkels, Cambridge, Hamilton Beach, Nespresso, Ninja, Peugeot, and Shark registry on Target.
  • Group Gifting:  group gifts are an easy way for friends and family to chip in to purchase a single registry item and Target has a pretty nifty way of managing them. Details here.
  • Easy returns and exchanges up to a year after your event.
  • Add items from any other site (like Amazon).

Sign up for a Bed Bath & Beyond Wedding Registry here (and add at least one item as a "placeholder") and check out these benefits:
  • BB&B Wedding Registry 10% Completion Discount:  Though they don't say so on their website, Bed Bath & Beyond will mail a 10% completion coupon good for up to 3 months after the wedding, and will also host a completion event, a designated day when you take 20% off without a coupon in-store.
  • Bonus Brand Completion Bonuses:  Since these tend to rotate over time, the current offers are listed here.  At the time of this posting, you can get valuable gifts for completing a Mikasa, Lenox, Noritake, Oxo, Anolon, Calphalon, All-Clad, Cuisinart, KitchenAid, Keurig, Omega,  registry at BB&B.
There are other registry benefits for these three retailers that I haven't mentioned here, because I think these are the really significant ones.  Make sure you sign up as soon as you can after you get engaged, and let the perks roll....

Getting married? Mazel tov! Create a wedding registry on....Amazon! (you heard that right!)

This falls under the category of "Duh, why didn't I think of that?"

Are you engaged?  You might have signed up for a wedding registry at all the usual places, like Bed, Bath, and Beyond, etc., but did you know that you can create a wedding registry at Amazon ?  Yes, Amazon! It seems to make so much sense; why not Amazon?  Here are the perks:
  • 10% Completion Gift – Receive a wedding gift after your event date. Get 10% off most products on Amazon for a savings up to $100.
  • You already know that Amazon has claim to the World's Largest Selection, enabling you to register for all the items you both want. You can even get Judaica on Amazon, for Pete's sake.
  • Your Amazon Wedding Registry is universal. Anything available for sale on Amazon.com can be added to your registry, including small appliances, cutlery, cookware, books, DVDs, electronics, and even sporting equipment. In addition, when you get the universal button you can add more products to your registry from any website. The Universal Button is a browser button that will let you add items to your Registry even if they aren't listed on the Amazon.com website. Once downloaded, just click the Amazon button in your browser while on any webpage. The box that appears will have a drop down to let you choose "Wedding Registry" as the list to add the item to.  You can download the Universal Button when you set up your registry.
I think the 10% completion bonus is the most important and valuable perk.   You'll need to create your registry at least 30 days before your wedding and it must have at least one registry purchase in order to qualify for the 10% discount. The completion discount may be used only one time for one order, of up to an aggregate of $1,000, for a maximum discount of up to $100.  The 10% completion discount expires 90 days after your wedding.

Start your Amazon Wedding registry here.
