Folgers coffee singles, $3.90 per box on Amazon Subscribe & Save

Oh yeah! Folger coffee singles have finally gone "on sale" on Amazon.  Only $23.41 with Subscribe & Save, which works out to $3.90 per box.  You will never see these for less than $4.50 in any store (and I know because I buy them a lot).  I bought this 6 pack from Amazon back in February 2009 and paid $23.28, and the price has not been this low in the last three years (I actually check almost every week), so you'd better believe I'm ordering two of these 6-packs.

If you love a good cuppa Joe and haven't discovered coffee singles yet, I highly recommend you do.  I know that Keurig is all the rage right now, but these are awesome for other reasons.

First of all, let me confess right now that I cannot choke down instant coffee.  I'm done with instant coffee.  So that's out.  I'd rather drink soybean oil.

Second of all, while we love fresh-brewed coffee, we are sort of coffee-maker challenged here.  My husband and I go through different stages all the time, where one of us is off coffee all together, or one of us drinks decaf and the other drinks regular, etc.  Making a full pot of coffee in our house is kind of a waste. So it sounds like we are perfect candidates for Keurig, right?

Two things about Keurig trouble me. Both the high cost of the coffeemaker, but even more so, the ongoing exorbitant cost of the K-cups.  Right now, I've rarely seen K-cups, even in bulk, that cost less than $0.40 each for just plain old, nothing special coffee.  And the non-sale going rate is around $0.50. That bothers me.  I know that eventually, the prices for these will drop, or that every now and then, a great deal will pop up.  But for now, unless we get it as a gift, I'm not springing for a Keurig.

There is also the problem of Shabbat.  My husband and I are Orthodox Jews and don't cook on Shabbat.  And I do love my cuppa Joe with some Truvia and little pareve coconut milk, after lunch on Saturday.

We use these Folgers coffee singles with "kli shlishi" hot water (if you keep Shabbat, please consult with your local Rabbi to see if this is ok for you) on Shabbat, and they are a major hit with our guests and us. They produce a single cup of coffee that taste as good as pot-brewed coffee.

And here's another plus.  Because they contain nothing but pure ground coffee, according to our local Va'ad (here in Denver), the regular (non-decaff) singles are Kosher for Passover!  Can't beat that with a stick!  No more "heimishe" brand overpriced instant mud on Pesach.  (By the way, Folger's singles are OU kosher certified.)

Folgers singles come in both regular and decaff.  The decaff is more expensive ($28.69 or $4.78 per box; you might do slightly better at Walmart) on Amazon Subscribe & Save.  And because you are getting these through Subscribe & Save, shipping is free. (Remember, you can cancel your subscription to Subscribe & Save as soon as you're done placing your order and the order has gone through, which is what I always do.)  If you want to buy these, but not in such large quantity, you can also opt for this double pack of 38 (the price per single is the same if you select Subscribe & Save).

If you want them, nab these now, because Amazon pricing changes on a dime; they could easily be back up to $38 tomorrow.
