Lately, I find myself using my Iphone for everything but making calls, LOL. Shopkick is a smartphone app that I use every day. Shopkick is sort of the diametric cousin of Internet shopping. The idea behind Shopkick is to reward shoppers with "kickbucks" (points which can be redeemed for store gift cards) simply for walking into a bricks & mortar store. Sounds pretty un-techy, you say, for this day and age? Not at all. How does Shopkick know you are actually in the store? Because you "check in" via the smartphone application that locates you via GPS. This is fantastic. Besides awarding the kickbucks currency, Shopkick also rewards its users with exclusive, Shopkick-only deals, like a 50% off promo at Bath and Body Works or $10 off at Macy's.
The best kickbucks rewards that Shopkick currently offers are at Target, Macy's, Best Buy, Itunes, American Eagle and Sports Authority, but more rewards are on the way as the technology advances and more vendors sign on. The kickbucks add up very quickly, as you can also accumulate small amounts of kickbucks just for being near stores (as opposed to large amounts for being in them). This app is a shopper's dream. I just cashed in some kickbucks yesterday for a $10 Target gift card. I do <3 my Iphone and I definitely <3 gift cards.
Download the app for Iphone here and the app for Android here (both free). Here's a nice deal to start you off: when you enter the promo code raspberry1824 immediately after downloading the app, you will get an automatic 50 kickbucks just for signing up. How do you do it? Right after you have downloaded the app, go to the ME tab (your profile...it'll be your first name) and tap on the "Got a promo code?" icon in My Stuff. Enter raspberry1824 on the next screen and your 50 kickbucks will be automatically credited (if not, restart the app and you should see the credit). The promo code icon only lasts about 24 hours after signup, so snag your 50 points right away!

I'm so glad you posted about this fantastic app! You should also mention that rewards start as low as 500 kickbucks ($2 gift card to Best Buy), so this is an app that pays off very quickly. I love it. I'm saving up for a $20 Best Buy gift card so I can buy some headphones.

ReplyDeleteManda, you need 2,500 points for a $10 card. The quickest way to accumulate points is to 1) click on the "nearby" stores every day...takes about a minute a day and that will grow your account by about 20 points a day. It may seem like a pittance, but these add up! 2) go into a Target (or any other supermarket) and scan the items listed under "scans" and that will grow your account by about 150 points each time. 3) you can also score big payoffs if you walk into a Best Buy, Sports Authority or Crate and barrel...usually 60-100 points. Keep at it and you'll score a $10 Target card within two weeks or so.
