I've long been beating on my drum about the many advantages of holding a Target RedCard, but this week, getting a Target RedCard just got a little bit sweeter. From now through 8/11/18, when you are approved for a Target RedCard, you will get $25 off a future qualifying purchase of $100 or more (that's one SuperTarget grocery run for me!). Details and fine print are here.
But why get a Target RedCard to begin with? Gosh, I'm so glad you asked.
- First of all, (and this is totally my personal opinion), you want to get the Debit Card (not the credit card) because there will be no ding on your credit when you sign up for the RedCard Debit Card and the approval process is quicker. Your RedCard will link directly to your checking account and you will pay for things by entering a PIN and having the money come directly out of that account.
- You can also take out up to $40 in cash from your checking account at the Target checkout with a RedCard Debit Card (which is an incredible convenience; I literally have not been to the bank in months). Busy Moms & Dads can skip the extra trip to the ATM to get cash to pay the babysitter.
- But of course, the greatest part of using any Target RedCard is that you get 5% off your entire purchase, no exceptions. Boom. Right there, you've saved 5% without clipping a coupon. Cha-Ching.
- The next greatest part of using a Target RedCard is that you get free 2-day shipping on Target.com, with no minimum order. Boom boom. You could order a $5.00 set of shmancy disposable silverware, (get 5% off and) still get free 2-day shipping. So even if, poor thing, you don't have a SuperTarget to shop at in your neighborhood, you can order from Target with free 2-day shipping all the time, which is awesome. Non-RedCard holders need a $35 minimum to get free shipping.
- As a Target RedCard holder, you get early access to major savings events, like The Black Friday Sale. You are so going to thank me in November.
- When you pay for things with your Target RedCard, you also get 30 extra days to return stuff (both online and at Target stores), which, again, may not seem like much now, but wait until the end of the holiday shopping season. You're welcome.
- Shopping at Target is kind of a savings adventure on to itself, with online coupons, mobile coupons, Cartwheel discounts, and lots more ways to save.
- So to wrap up, if you've been thinking about getting a Target RedCard, take the plunge now, and besides all of these great RedCard features, you'll also get that $25 off a future $100 purchase (I'm jealous) to sweeten the deal.
