Get ready! Amazon Prime Day 2018

This morning, TechRadar reported that they found a banner that was accidentally posted on the Amazon UK website that said that Prime Day will start midday on Monday, July 16 and then will continue all day on Tuesday July 17.

There is no word from Amazon confirming these dates, so I'm still waiting for the official press release from Amazon, but if these dates are real, then WOW, 36 hours of deals deals deals!

As you know from previous years, on Prime Day, I just don't go to sleep (thank God, I don't need all that much).  I post as many of the absolute best deals that I can bring you, and I focus in on the categories you guys all ask me about:  tech, clothing, baby, household, books, and more.  I've got a few special insider tricks up my sleeve to get hold of the best deals before the other sites get them, and I can't wait to share them with you.

Assuming this date is correct, this leaves a mere 25 days until Prime Day. Here's one thing you can do right now to prepare: sign up for my Daily Cheapskate Prime Day What's App group.  Do it now so that you won't forget.  This list will only be used for Prime Day information and deals and nothing else.  I don't care if you un-join the list as soon as Prime Day is over, just make sure you join up before 7/16/18.

The Daily Cheapskate Prime Day What's App group is a great way to make sure you don't miss out on the best  Daily Cheapskate Prime Day deals without constantly having to check Facebook, Twitter, or the Daily Cheapskate website.  Open this What's App invite on your smart phone now.  (Please note that this group is completely separate from the regular Daily Cheapskate What's App group.)

Now that the date has been leaked, it's a pretty sure bet that Amazon will be releasing their official Prime Day press report soon, so stay tuned, because I'm going to post all the Prime Day information as it comes out, (including those awesome Early Bird deals!).

FYI, Amazon's Prime Day Homepage will be located right over here, so you might want to bookmark this now.

UPDATE:  Because of some pretty awful spamming, I've shut down all and any Daily Cheapskate Whats App groups and removed any public links.

PRIME MEMBERS ONLY: Fire 8-GB for $35 and Fire 16-GB for $55. Limited time.

Amazon Prime members, heads up, once again, you can score a terrific tablet for a dirt-cheap price!

Limit one each per Amazon account, for Prime members only.  Good through 9/16/17.

We own two of the "old" Fire 7s and they are great for traveling; very lightweight and fully functional as a mid-range tablet.  If we lose them or drop them, we are not going to get really upset over such a low-cost tablet (as opposed to my $500 iPad!)

A word of advice: if you are going to watch movies or play games on your Fire, definitely get the 16-GB.

This tablet got 4.2 out of 5 stars over 8,182 customer reviews and comes in 4 colors.
  • The next generation of our best-selling Fire tablet ever - now thinner, lighter, and with longer battery life and an improved display. More durable than the latest iPad.
  • Beautiful 7" IPS display with higher contrast and sharper text, a 1.3 GHz quad-core processor, and up to 8 hours of battery life. 8 or 16 GB of internal storage and a microSD slot for up to 256 GB of expandable storage.
  • Now with Alexa, for quick access to the information and entertainment you want. Ask questions, play music, check your calendar, get the news, weather, and more - just press the home button and ask.
  • Enjoy millions of movies, TV shows, songs, Kindle eBooks, apps and games - including Netflix, Facebook, HBO, Spotify, and more
  • Prime members get unlimited access to over a thousand books and magazines, millions of songs, and thousands of movies and TV episodes - at no additional cost
  • Watch downloaded videos anywhere with a Prime membership, Netflix plan, or Showtime subscription
  • Enhance your entertainment experience with features you only get from Amazon, including ASAP, X-Ray, On Deck, Blue Shade, and FreeTime Parental Controls

PRIME DAY EARLY DEAL: 35% off select Prime Pantry items (Prime members only)

As part of their lead-up to Prime Day on July 12th, Amazon is offering its Prime members 35% off these select Prime Pantry items. These deals change from day-to-day, so click here and look for items that say "35% coupon available."  The ones that are 35% off today, 7/8/16, are Mrs. Meyers and Ziploc items, but YMMV.

Stack these 35%-off discounts along with the regular monthly offer to waive the $5.99 shipping fee when you purchase any five select items and enter the promo code PANTRYJUL at checkout.  Ideally, if you can find items that are part of the waive-the-shipping list and also are 35% off, that would be the best money-saving scenario that would maximize your savings.

If you need a little refresher in how Prime Pantry works, it's a program that Amazon added to its Prime membership almost two years ago.   In a nutshell, Amazon Prime members get to add up to 45 lbs. worth of household, food, personal and beauty items to a Prime Pantry box, and it gets delivered to your house for $5.99.  The advantage of the Prime Pantry program over, say, Amazon's Subscribe & Save is that 1) you don't need to buy in bulk quantities, and 2) some of the items are very well-priced. The disadvantages?  1) You must be a member of Prime and 2) that $5.99 shipping fee. But since there's a way to waive that fee each month by buying five of these items, that disadvantage just goes away

I put together my Prime Pantry box today (7/8/16) and here's what I bought.  Remember that the 35% off discounts change daily, so if you're reading this after 7/8/16, you will probably see discounts on different items.

For the five select items needed to waive the $5.99 shipping:
Total for these five items: $7.26 shipped.  Before I check out and pay for my cart, I'm going to shop around a bit more to see what other worthy Pantry steals there are here.

Not a member of Amazon Prime yet, but really want to take advantage of all these Prime Day deals?  Now is a great opportunity to get on board the Prime train with this FREE 30-day Amazon Prime trial. (Cancel before the end of the trial period and pay nothing.)

Amazon disclaimer:  Amazon prices can change without warning, so make sure you double-check the price at checkout.  If the price goes up any time after this deal is posted, Amazon is not responsible for matching this price.
