The Cuisinart CSB-33 QuikPrep Hand Blender is normally around $29.95, but by some fluke, Amazon has got the "tangerine" one priced at $17.17, with free Prime/SuperSaver shipping. (Just to be clear, this is not the "Smart Stick" blender...different Cuisinart model, but it's rare to find any Cuisinart immersion blender for the price of the Hamilton Beach one. The Smart Stick is still available for $28.99, btw.)
I use this one for Pesach. I can't make my beef-vegetable soup without it. After the soup's been cooking for an hour, I take out half the vegetables and set them aside, blend the other half into the soup with the immersion blender and then add the other vegetables back in. It's a great way to thicken soup and add a lot of flavor without adding in any cubes or starches.
