Living Social: $45 for a Sam's Club PLUS membership + $20 free gift card

Living Social has got a new deal going on for Sam's Club: Get a one-year Sam's Club PLUS membership to Sam's Club AND a $20 Sam's Club gift card, all for $45.

On previous occasions, Living Social had offered the regular $45 Sam's Savings membership; this current deal is an upgrade to the premium $100 Sam's Plus membership that comes with special perks:   $10 cash back for every $500 in qualifying purchases, an invitation to a VIP shopping event on 11/22/14, $80 in special members-only instant savings, early shopping hours, etc.  And the cost is still the same as before, $45.

• One-year Sam’s Club Plus Membership (a $100 value; an upgrade on the regular Sam's Club membership). It does not renew unless the customer selects the Sam’s Plus membership upon renewal. 
• Complimentary membership card for a spouse or other household member.
• $20 gift card valid for any in-club, online or fuel purchases. Gift card does not expire.
• Four Fresh-food vouchers, redeemable at the time of membership activation.  (These are not kosher but I was able to get a kosher substitution, YMMV.)
• Limit 1 per person.
• Redeem in-club only.
• New members only (if you haven't been a member for 6 months, you CAN qualify for this).
• Not valid for renewals, or those who previously had a membership that has lapsed within the last 6 months
• Not valid for redemption until October 29, 2014 
• Promotional voucher expires on February 3, 2015, or such later date as allowed by law 
• Must be 18 or older

We took advantage of a similar deal two years ago when Living Social was running this offer.  While I probably wouldn't have bought a Sam's Club membership without this offer (we're Costco members), I actually did buy this deal, and it was SO worth it.   I' wanted to see how Sam's Club stacked up against Costco in terms of pricing and kosher food deals; it turned out to be a good opportunity that lead to saving more money.  Among other things, they had more of a selection on kosher salmon than Costco did, as well as some other key items.  I'm going to get another membership through this current offer.

When we did the Living Social deal, we also received vouchers for a whole bunch of non-kosher food, and the Sam's Club location manager substituted a bag of frozen Sam's Club salmon (kosher under Kof-K) instead.  So I got a $20 gift card AND a free bag of salmon (approximate value, $24), which made up for the price of the membership.  It was like getting the membership for free.  No guarantees that your local Sam's Club will do the same, but if you keep kosher (or are vegetarian or vegan or GF), it's certainly worth asking the question.
