Possible $20 Amazon credit on $8.00 Reader's Digest subscription

Amazon has got a one-year subscription to Reader's Digest for $8.00, (10 issues, 80 cents each).

Also shown on the page is an offer for a $20 Amazon credit when you subscribe.

Now, I did chat with Amazon customer service and they confirmed that yes, you will get a $20 Amazon Credit when you purchase an $8.00 Reader's Digest subscription on Amazon.  You will be notified via email, and the $20 credit is good for 60 days and may be applied towards anything sold and shipped by Amazon.

However, in my experience, Amazon Customer Service has not always been accurate about item details and offers, and this one looks particularly questionable because the credit exceeds the cost. I actually can't try this one myself because we already have a Reader's Digest subscription.

So caveat emptor!  If you subscribe and you don't receive the $20 Amazon credit, please don't be disappointed or angry with me (or Amazon)! Amazon is not obligated to honor any site errors.  The $8.00 cost is still a great price for a Reader's Digest subscription.  However, if you DO receive it, please, pretty please contact me right away and let me know!

Turning off auto-renewal: This subscription is set to auto-renew, but you can easily shut that down in a click.  Right after you subscribe, under your Amazon account, click on the Manage Magazine Subscriptions link, find the name of the magazine you just subscribed to and de-select the auto-renewal option.  Voila, no more auto-renewal!  Pretty easy to do, and it allows you to take advantage of a great promotional price.

Amazon disclaimer:  Amazon prices can change without warning, so make sure you double-check the price at checkout.  If the price goes up any time after this deal is posted, Amazon is not responsible for matching this price.
