No-brainer. If you don't have a Target RedCard, get a Target RedCard. It takes almost no time at all to sign up, and it pays. It pays a lot.
- 5% off EVERYTHING, ALL THE TIME. Whether you shop in-store or online. That's 5% off the top without lifting a finger.
- Free shipping on Target.com. All the time, not just pre-holiday. No minimum purchase.
- Designate 1% to the school of your choice. You can designate 1% of every purchase to go the school that you select. That 1% comes out of Target's pocket, not yours.
- Get an extra 30 days to return a Target purchase.
- When you fill 5 prescriptions at Target, you'll get a coupon that will let you take 5% off anything you purchase all day at Target on the day of your choosing, and this is in addition to the 5% you get back with your RedCard.
- No annual fee for either the RedCard credit card or debit card.
Those are "official" benefits. Here are my personal reasons for getting a Target RedCard"
- You can get either a credit card or a debit card. The advantage of the debit card is that there is no hard credit check pull on your name; they just hook it right up to your checking account. With a RedCard debit card, you never have to deal with a bill.
- You will get special offers and coupon in the mail, including some for free items.
- If you get a Target Debit card, you can withdraw cash at checkout. Between this feature and being able to deposit checks on my iPhone, I don't even remember what the inside of a bank looks like any more. What's a bank? Seriously, this is a huge timesaver for me.
- Target has so many opportunities for saving money: Mobile coupons and Target store coupons which you can stack with manufacturer's coupons, Cartwheel savings, weekly gift card deals, price-matching, etc. You can also get ShopKick points every time you walk into a Target store. Every single one of these opportunities is stackable with your Target 5% RedCard savings. Every single one.
I save a fortune shopping at Target over the year, and much of that is due to my using the
Target RedCard. This is seriously a no-brainer and very easy to do.
