Prime Pantry is a program that Amazon added to its Prime membership this year. To describe Prime Pantry in a nutshell, Prime members get to add up to 45 lbs. worth of household, food, personal and beauty items to a Prime Pantry box and it gets delivered to your house for $5.99. The advantage of the Prime Pantry program over, say, Amazon's Subscribe & Save is that you don't need to buy in bulk quantities, and some of the items are very well-priced.
But for me, that $5.99 shipping just kills the deal every time, no matter how well-priced the Prime Pantry items are. That's the reason that I don't generally recommend a Prime Pantry deal on Daily Cheapskate (and why you won't see them on most other blogs). I just don't think Prime Pantry deals are in your best frugal interest, especially when you can get such fantastic bargains on Amazon Subscribe & Save.
But there's a promotion out over here, where Amazon will waive that $5.99 delivery charge if you purchase any combination of three select items to your Prime Pantry shopping cart.
Well, that changes everything, doesn't it?
Here are the three items that I found that were really good buys in that select list, especially the first one!
This two-pack of Tide Free & Gentle 50 oz. HE liquid detergent is $9.94 - $3.00 coupon = $6.94 or $3.47 for each 50 oz. bottle of Tide. Remember that the $3.00 coupon can only be redeemed once.
This 60-count Cascade ActionPacs is priced at $9.97 - $0.25 coupon = $9.72 or 17 cents per ActionPac.
Once you add these three select Prime Pantry items to your cart, you can check out (your total for the Tide, Cascade and Downy, after all the discounts and coupons, will be $22.13), or if you like you can continue to add Prime Pantry items to your shopping cart until you have reached the 45 lb. limit, and Amazon will tell you when you have reached that limit. Make sure you doublecheck that the $5.99 shipping is waived in your shopping cart.
There is also another way to get that $5.99 waived: add any one package of Amazon Elements Diapers (featured way down at the bottom of the page) to your Prime Pantry Box. You don't need to buy three, just one.
Remember that (unlike Subscribe & Save) you need to be an Amazon Prime member in order to use Prime Pantry. You can always sign up for a 30-day free Prime membership here if you're not already a member.
