More stuff to love at Ikea

I got another email from Ikea this week, which featured some new housewares that I absolutely went nuts over.  I've posted before about my love affair with Ikea's wonderfully frugal houseware section here, here, and here.   While I'm less than enamored with Ikea furniture, most of their housewares and kitchenwares are well-made, beautifully designed, and dirt cheap.  Here are some items that I'm currently ogling on their site:

Fagrik coffee mug, $0.99 each. Comes in four colors.  I love the lines on this stoneware mug, and I definitely love the price.  We break coffee mugs like eggs in my kitchen.

Strangnas candleholder, $1.99 each. Comes in three colors (but this blue was by far the most jewel-like and beautiful). Can be used both with candles in metal cups and with tealights.

Mjonas tealight holder, pack of 3 in assorted shades of blue/green, $2.99.  Also comes in shades of red, but as you can see, I'm partial to blues.  I love the cutouts and I love the combination of colors, and at a dollar each, bigwow.

Ikea Ps Vallo watering cans, $0.99 each.  I actually bought the black one last time I was in Ikea.  Because of the swoopy lines of the watering can, you will be fine about displaying this along with your plants, because it's something interesting to look at in its own right.

Rationell Variera pot lid organizer, $4.99.  This stainless steel lid organizer is not only adjustable and incredibly usefil but like most Ikea kitchenwares, it's elegant in its own right.  And the price is fantastic.

See anything beautiful and frugal at Ikea lately?

  1. Adding that pot lid organizer to my list! Maybe my cabinets won't be such a mess. Also on my list: food storage containers http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/60149673/?query=pruta. I'm checking your other ikea posts as I make my shopping list!

  4. Okay, here's the update: I went through your posts and made a list of the best items for us. I also thought about our needs (like when I made minestrone soup last week and realized that we didn't have a dairy ladle)... and I've been on the lookout for a set of flatware for Pesach.

We walked into IKEA with a fully priced list and followed my cousin's suggestion that since we were only getting kitchen items, we ought to stay on the main floor and not go to the temptation areas upstairs.

If not for our valiant search for the Rationell pot lid organizer, which was out of stock, we would have been out within half an hour. We got almost everything on our list and only bought one items that wasn't on it -- a flatware organizer tray for 99 cents.

Best find: 12 place settings of Pesach flatware for under $20 total. Check out the Bonus sets (4 pieces per setting) for $3.99 per 16-piece set. Since we will want extra forks for fish, we picked up Fornuft 4-packs of forks for $2.49 each. So what if this silverware is super-cheap? Even if we use it for the next 20 years, that's still only five months of use, right?

  5. Looks like the pot lid organizer can be purchased online, but I am not sure I want to do that before I see it in person.

  7. Caroline, is the flatware online?

  8. Not available to buy online, but you can look... Bonus: http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/50087185/ and Fornuft: http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/10202861/

I think the Bonus forks are UG-LY, so I'll probably just use them for fish forks and use Fornuft with the Bonus knives and spoons, but like I said before, super-cheap works when it will only be used one week out of the year!
