Dear Susie:
Help! I'm getting married in 6 weeks. We're having a very upscale wedding and I've got 4 bridesmaids plus a maid of honor. I know it's traditional for the bride to buy her bridesmaids a gift, but the wedding has turned out to be much more expensive than an I thought it would be, and my budget for all the bridal party gifts is just $75 (though I'd like to spend even less). I don't want to buy them something cheap-looking or cheesy. (No silver-plated ring holders, know what I mean?) Can you help? My bridesmaids are ages 19-26, if that helps.
Sincerely,
Amanda K. in Minneapolis
Amanda, (and all of this summer's new brides,) first of all, congratulations and mazel tov! Now take a deep breath.
I know how stressful and budget-busting planning the perfect wedding is. Here's an idea for your five bridesmaid gifts that is classy but won't break the bank.
How about an 18" string of 6-7mm freshwater pearls for $9.99 from Amazon, with free Prime or Supersaver (minimum purchase $25) shipping?
Pearls are the ultimate jewelry classic, and your bridesmaids can even wear these pearls to your wedding! Granted, they are not the super-high quality Akoya pearls that can cost thousands of dollars, but genuine freshwater pearls can still be elegant and beautiful.
If you do plan on buying these pearls for your bridal party, since you are coming in so far under budget, consider buying your maid-of-honor an extra gift too: these Sterling Silver White Freshwater Cultured Pearl Button Stud Earrings for $9 with free Prime or Supersaver shipping.
Amanda, congratulations again on your upcoming marriage!
