Cultured pearl and 14 kt. gold jewelry starting at $24.86

My friend Celia's daughter, Ilana, got married this summer.  Her daughter had 8, countem, 8 (!!) bridesmaids.  Ah, to be 19 again.

Ilana wanted to buy her bridesmaids some sort of very special "real-pearl-and-real-gold-bridally-something" for their bridesmaid gifts.  Celia wanted to as well, but she also wanted to not have to take out a second mortgage on the house paying for just the bridesmaid gifts.  (We won't mention how much the rest of the wedding cost Celia and Mr. Celia.)

Celia asked me for help. Ideally, she wanted to keep the budget for the bridesmaid gifts under $500, which I deemed very reasonable.  Ilana, was, of course, terrified at the potentially cheap and embarrassing costume jewelry such a budget would probably entail.  Visions of gold-filled and sterling silver clasped faux-pearl nightmares danced before her eyes.

"No worries," I told Ilana.  "Your bridesmaids will have genuine cultured pearl and 14kt. gold jewelry as gifts.  And to Celia, I said "I know you wanted to keep the budget under $500, but how does under $200 sound instead?"

No, I didn't rob a jewelry store.  I turned to my favorite jeweler buddy, L'Amazon.

Amazon has got these beautiful 7.25" pearl bracelets of white freshwater cultured AA grade 6.5-7mm pearls and 14kt. gold clasps for $24.87 with free Prime/SuperSaver shipping (pictured above). AND they come with one-day shipping at no extra charge. AND they have free returns, which means that if Ilana didn't like them when they arrived (she loved them, btw), Amazon would pick up the return shipping.

Celia's bridesmaid gifts bill was $198.96, less than 40% of what she was willing to spend.  And they lived happily ever after.

Since Chanukah will be arriving on the early side this year, I thought I'd share this find with you, since I think these will make WONDERFUL gifts.

I've seen quite a lot of well-priced pearl jewelry in my time, but never any with 14-kt. gold classic fishhook clasps at these prices, especially with the current astronomical price of gold.  Well done, L'Amazon, well done.
