UPDATE: It seems that all the orders that were placed at this price were CANCELLED, including mine. The official reason given was "technical difficulty." The price that is currently on the item page is four times the original price.
Not acceptable.
I called Amazon and told them what happened. Either one of two things seems to be the case. Either the seller realized that he posted a great deal and recanted when he started getting numerous orders, or he is doing a bait-and-switch. Neither option is an ethical business practice.
Even if he posted the original $19.95 price in error, he should honor it, as it was a reasonable price for 24 cans of cranberry sauce. If he had posted a price of, say $3.00 for the 24 cans, I would not expect him to honor it, as that is obviously a typo and no one would reasonably expect to pay $0.13 for a can of cranberry sauce.
Amazon is going to investigate this and what will probably happen is either the seller will be compelled to honor its orders or they will be asked to leave Amazon. Please stay tuned. If you placed an order and had it cancelled, what I'd like you to do is give polite but firm customer feedback here. The more feedback Amazon receives, the easier it will be to resolve this issue in our favor. If you have the time to call Amazon to complain, even better.
Thanks and sorry for the kerfuffle.

Amazon has got a 24-pack of Gefen whole cranberry sauce 16 oz. cans for $19.55 with free shipping (no Prime account necessary!). That comes to about $0.81 per can, even less than what this would go for in a New York supermarket. Buy these with a friend or hang on to them yourself. Before you ask yourself what on earth you will do with 24 cans of cranberry sauce, let me just point out that these are kosher for Pesach as well. I have absolutely no doubt that I'll be able to split these with my friends, come March.
