If you're not familiar with the Skybell, here's how it works:
After you install the Skybell, when someone rings your doorbell or triggers a motion sensor at your front door, Skybell sends an alert to your smartphone. You will be able to see, hear, and speak to your visitor, no matter where you are. So if you are on vacation or out at work or shopping, you can answer your doorbell as if you were home! (FYI, the motion sensor can easily be turned off for Shabbos, which is what we do.)
The applications are numerous.
With a Skybell, you can see who is ringing your bell (or even just standing in front of your door) from anywhere and answer accordingly:
- You can answer your door when you're at work and never miss another package delivery. You can instruct the FedEx guy to leave the package with your neighbor.
- You can answer the door when you're on vacation and the visitor need never know that no one is home!
- If you are in the bathtub (or otherwise engaged), you can see who is at the door and decide whether it's worth getting out of the tub.
- If your older kids are home alone for the weekend, you can see who is visiting them (no unauthorized guests or parties).
- You can avoid political, missionary, solicitor, and salesmen, etc. visits if you're busy at home.
- If you're at home and your baby is asleep, you can silence the indoor chime and still see who's ringing your doorbell with a smartphone alert.
- You can keep an eye on your elderly parents' visitors when you're not there.
- Even if you miss an alert, the smartphone app records the doorbell or motion-sensor visit for you so you can watch it later.
- If you've got a daytime babysitter or nanny, you can make sure she receives only authorized guests when you're not home.
