Get Dry Idea for $0.50 at Walgreen's this week

I just got back from Walgreen's where I snagged two Dry Idea Clear-Gels for a total of $1.00.  Here's how:

1. Print this coupon for $3.00 off two Dry Idea rollons or clear-gels here. (Print up to two coupons.)
2. Make sure you are signed up for Walgreen's Balance Rewards.  You can sign up online and then when you are in the store, just tell them you want to enter your phone number when you want to check out.
3. Once you are in-store, ask for the Walgreen's monthly coupon booklet.  Tear out this coupon for $2 off two Right Guards or Dry Ideas.

4. Dry Idea Clear Gel is currently on sale for $3.79 each or two for $6.00 when you have a Balance Rewards card (or can prove you are a member by entering your phone number at the register).

5. Use the manufacturer's coupon for $3.00 off two Dry Ideas and stack it with the store coupon for $2.00 off two Dry Ideas.  After the total $5.00 in coupons, your cost will be $1.00 for two Dry Ideas or just $0.50 each.

Whole Foods November coupons are up!

UPDATED 11/12/12 with new Mambo Sprouts coupon matchups.

The new November Whole Foods coupons are up!

Please do this, right now: go to the Whole Foods coupon page, select them all and print them to a pdf entitled "Whole Foods coupons delete after 1-31-13." I've gotten into the habit of doing this as soon as the new coups appear, because the new ones always come out about a month before the old ones expire. Once you have them saved to a .pdf, you can use them right up to their expiration date, even if they are no longer on the Whole Foods website.

Now on to the coupons. It seems like there are fewer matchups this month, but maybe that's just me.  The ones that I found can snag you some real savings if your Whole Foods markets allows you to stack one store coupon with a manufacturer's coupon. Here, where I live in Colorado, all the Whole Foods markets allow coupon stacking, so I'm spoiled. All of these Whole Foods coupons are good through 1/31/12. I'll update them as new manufacturer coupons become available.

(Please note, not all the items listed below are necessarily kosher. Doublecheck for a reliable hechsher in-store).

Sandy and Oceanside

Friends and Readers,

I'm normally reluctant to use Daily Cheapskate for anything other than what it is:  a blog about helping you save money.  But today, I'm going to make an exception.

We're all aware of the destruction that Hurricane Sandy has wreaked.  In the aftermath, there are many opportunities to reach out and help Sandy's victims, and such a multitude of needs, that many don't know where to start.

I lived in Oceanside, New York for almost three years.  It's located on the south shore of Long Island, and the community there was hit very hard by Sandy.  There are families that have been financially devastated.  Friends of mine there are still without power.  Homes were ruined.   Homeowner's insurance does not pay flood damage and flood insurance (which very few people had) generally has very high deductibles.  The synagogue that I used to attend, the Young Israel of Oceanside, had tremendous property damage and lost three Torah scrolls, thousands of books, all of their youth program furniture and toys, and insurance is not covering most of the damage.

FEMA and the government are doing little to nothing, except swamping people in red tape and paperwork.  Utility companies are uncooperative and unresponsive.  All the "real" help is coming from private sources, and I'm so impressed and touched by stories of the kindness and generosity exhibited by many individuals and organizations. A tragedy like this can really bring out the best in people.

I'm "adopting" Oceanside as my personal Sandy Relief cause, not to the exclusion of others who need help, but everyone must start somewhere, and I'm starting with Oceanside.  The community is working through its synagogue to get assistance where it needs to go, quickly and efficiently.  They have set up an online emergency fund here, or you can mail your check to:

Young Israel of Oceanside
150 Waukena Avenue
Oceanside, NY 11572

Please make your checks out to "Young Israel of Oceanside" and mark the note section "Hurricane Emergency Fund." 100% of your donation will go to help those who need it. Whatever you can afford to give, whether it's $5, $18, $100, $1,000 or more, I am asking you, my dear readers, to take some of that money that you've hopefully saved through this blog, and open up your hearts and wallets to a community and individuals who need your help very badly.

Tizku le'mitzvot (may you merit your good deeds), and I thank you from my heart for your generosity.  May God reward you in kind.

 -Susie

Dyson DC33 Multi Floor Bagless Vacuum for $315-$360 with free shipping (plus you'll get $60-$70 in Kohl's cash!)

We had a plain-old-regular vacuum for years, and it just didn't do the trick. With two very lovable and very, very sheddy dogs, we needed a Dyson.  We had heard about how incredible they were, but to be honest, the inner-cheapskate in me never quite believed that a vacuum would be worth $400.

So when Amazon put the Dyson DC25 on a Goldbox sale for $319 way back in March (it is currently $549), my husband and I agonized over it, and took a leap of faith and bought it.  We have never looked back.  It has transformed my cleaning and my house is so much more pleasant now.  Dysons are amazingly efficient at getting every last scrap of dirt, dust and dog hair.  As frugal as I am, that Dyson was worth every penny.

Kohl's has now got the Dyson DC33 Multi Floor Bagless Vacuum for $449.99 with free shipping .  When you enter promo code FIRESIDE at checkout,  that price drops by 20% ($90.00) to $359.99.  And, if you have a Kohl's credit card, you can enter promo code SHOP30 to drop that price by a whopping 30% ($135.00) to $314.99.  you will not find this model vacuum for less than that.  (Amazon currently has got it for $399; so does Overstock, Home Depot and BestBuy.)

You will also earn $10 in Kohl's cash for every $50 you spend.  So if you don't have a Kohl's credit card, you will get $70 in Kohl's cash, effectively dropping that price down to $289.99.  If you do have a Kohl's credit card, you will $60 in Kohl's cash, effectively dropping that price down to $254.99.

Here are the two shopping scenarios:

If you DON'T have a Kohl's credit card:

1. Add this Dyson DC33 Multi Floor Bagless Vacuum into your shopping bag. It is currently priced at $449.99.
2. At checkout, use promo code FIRESIDE.  The price will drop by 20% ($90.00) to $359.99.
3. Shipping is free.
4. After checkout, you'll receive an email with your $70 Kohl's cash, which is good both online or in-store.  After that $70, your net price on the vacuum is effectively $289.99.

If you DO have a Kohl's credit card:

1. Add this Dyson DC33 Multi Floor Bagless Vacuum into your shopping bag. It is currently priced at $449.99.
2. At checkout, use promo code SHOP30.  The price will drop by 30% ($135.00) to $314.99.
3. Shipping is free.
4. After checkout, you'll receive an email with your $60 Kohl's cash, which is good both online or in-store.  After that $60, your net price on the vacuum is effectively $254.99.

I love stacking promo codes, free shipping and Kohl's cash....the confluence of all three = amazing buy!  If you've been hankering after a Dyson, now is a great time to get one.

BOGO on Renuzit cones at Target

Print your Target store coupon for a Buy-One-Get-One free (BOGO) coupon for a 7.5oz. Renuzit Tempting Indulgences air freshener cone here.

Make sure you stack it with the $0.75 off 2 Renuzit Adjustable Air Freshener manufacturer's coupon here.  You will need to buy three of these items to use both coupons, as Target's coupon policy states that you may use one cents-off manufacturer's coupon with one Target BOGO coupon, so if the cents-off coupon is for two items, you'll need to buy three items total.

These cones go for $0.99 at Target, so if you buy three for $2.97, get one free and get $0.75 off, your grand total  for all three will be $1.22 for all three, or $0.41 each.

125 KidKraft pretend food play set for $16.00 shipped

Get this KidKraft 125-piece play pretend food set for $16.00 with free Prime or SuperSaver shipping.  (That's roughly $0.13 per food item.  Crazy, huh?)  Ages 3+  Huge steal, IMHO.  (It's $20.00 plus shipping at Target.)

This item got 3-1/2 starts out of 5.  The three major negatives in the reviews seem to be 1) the items aren't sized to scale 2) many of the items are junk food, like the pizza 3) the food is made of plastic.  The positives mentioned in the reviews were that kids loved this set!

I think it's a winner.
