Order for Purim NOW

Each year, Joshua and I donate graggers (noisemakers), crowns and masks to our synagogue for the kids to use on Purim during megillah reading.  (We do this to honor my dear father's, z"l, memory.)

You might think that the best place to order things for a Jewish holiday is a Judaica store.  Not necessarily so.  A great source for this kind of stuff is the Oriental Trading Company.  Whether you are ordering Purim items for your synagogue or for your own Purim party or just want to include Purim favors in your Mishloach Manot/Shalach Manos, you can make out like a bandit if you order items from Oriental Trading in bulk.  Don't need so many graggers and masks and crowns?  Team up with a friend or two and split an order.

Today through 1/24/12,  Oriental Trading Company  is offering free shipping, plus $5 off orders of $59 plus or $10 off orders of $79 plus with promo code WCE2803. The Purim items abound on Oriental Trading.  Here's what I ordered.

Noisemakers Assorted, 50-count @ $18 x 2 ($0.36 per gragger)

Bright Mini Maracas, 12-count @ $3 x 3 ($0.25 per gragger)

Feathered Mask Assortment, 12-count @ $12.00 ($1.00 per mask)

Mardi Gras Crown Masks, 12-count @ $3.00 x 2 ($0.25 per mask)

Prism Crowns, 12-count @ $3.00 x 2 ($0.25 per crown)

Total order is $81 plus $12.99 shipping, but with the promo code, it drops to $71 with free shipping, for 136 graggers,  48 masks and 24 crowns.  Nice deal.

Is it a little crazy to be ordering items for Purim in January? Maybe. But remember, the best time to purchase stuff that you need is not when you need it, but when you can get it inexpensively, as long as you can store it safely. This promo code was too good to pass up, and now that's one less thing I will have to worry about in two months, come Purim-time (and now I can focus on the hamatashen, yummers).
