Cable providers offering $10/month for broadband for low income families with a child

It seems that other cable providers are offering the same type of program as Comcast Connections.  Connect2Compete is a “private and nonprofit sector partnership to promote broadband adoption and improve outcomes in disadvantaged communities” and they are offering broadband internet access for $9.95 a month. Service providers include Cox, Time Warner Cable, Charter, Cablevision, and others.  You must meet income requirements and have at least one child in the National School Lunch program in order to qualify.  You must not have subscribed to broadband service for 90 or more days, and who have no outstanding arrears with a service provider.

  • Internet service is offered for $9.95 + tax per month
  • The offering lasts for two years (with a three year sign-up window)
  • 1 Mbps minimum speed
They are also offering refurbished PCs for $150 and new PCs for $250. Find out about the program here.
