New to DailyCheapskate? Stick around; 2012 is going to be even better than last year

Well, it's a new month and a new year.  If you're new to DailyCheapskate because you happened upon our little money-saving community during your December holiday shopping, I hope you'll continue to join us and become a regular (and bring a friend!).

Keep in mind that January is one of the most important months on the frugality calendar.  Why? Here are just a few reasons:
  • Returns.  Stores are going to be glutted with returns, and those items are going to be marked down substantially.
  • After Christmas clearances:  electronics, toys, etc. are all going to be going on sale.  The best time to shop for things you need is when no one else wants them.
  • Gift cards:  I know that many of you have received gift cards as gifts in December. Before they go forgotten into that black hole of your desk drawer, check out the stores and see if there are any sales or deals on items that you need or want and redeem those gift cards. Gift cards for very useful stores like Home Depot, Target, and Walmart should go up on a bulletin board in the kitchen, to be saved for regular shopping trips.
Please keep coming back to DailyCheapskate for the best deals, coupons, freebies, and money-saving methods. Just because December has passed doesn't mean I'm going to stop saving you money.  Keep in touch and follow DailyCheapskate on Facebook, Twitter, or get our once-daily email blast.

Hang on to your hats; we're going to save some real money this year.
