Amazon unveiled five new members of their Kindle family this morning. The
The Kindle Fire HD 6 has got an 8 GB version for $99.00 and a 16 GB version for $119.00 (both with free shipping). What's new is that it now has got a quad core processor that is twice as fast as the previous generation, comes with front and rear-facing cameras, comes in 5 colors, has got a brighter 6" HD display, allow you to edit Office documents, do web browsing, has new Firefly technology for watching media, and is running OS 4 Sangria. And it's all for $99.00.
Amazon is billing it as "the most powerful tablet under $100" and with good reason! Sure, there were tablets available in the under-$100 range before, but they were bare-bones in terms of functionality. The Kindle Fire HD 6 is as powerful as the more expensive ones with a VERY affordable price tag. (I'm thinking of picking one up for traveling, so that I don't have to worry about losing or damaging my $500 iPad.) This is definitely going to be the hottest new Chanukah present this year, and I'm thrilled that it's so affordable.
