Live near a Kroger affiliate store? Price match the $5 Target gift card Bounty deal for some uber-cheap paper towels
This week, Target is offering a $5 gift card when you buy two 8-roll packages of Bounty at $10.49. There is a $0.25 coupon from the 1/29/12 Procter & Gamble Sunday paper insert that you can use to sweeten the deal ever so slightly. So when you buy two of the 8-rolls at $10.49, you'll spend $20.98, less the $5 gift card and $0.25 coupon, you'll end up getting each 8-roll for $7.87, which is, eh, an ok deal.
2 x $10.49 = $20.98
minus $0.25
minus $5 gift card
total = $15.73 or $7.87 each
BUT, if you live near a Kroger affiliate store, check your Sunday sales insert. Almost all Kroger stores are having a sale on Bounty 8-rolls as part of their Buy-ten-save-$3 promotion. Because it is part of the special promotion, Target will probably not allow you to price match their $0.30 off price, (my local Target did not) but they will allow you to price match the regular pre-promo price, since it is printed in the circular.
So for example, if you live in Omaha, near a Bakers, their regular circular price this week for an 8-roll of Bounty is $6.99. Here's the price matching math:
$6.99 x 2 = $13.98
minus $0.25 coupon
minus $5 gift card
total = $8.73 or just $4.37 per 8-roll package!
Of if you live in Denver, near a King Soopers, their regular circular price this week for an 8-roll of Bounty is $7.49. Here's the price matching math:
$7.49 x 2 = $14.98
minus $0.25 coupon
minus $5 gift card
total = $9.73 or just $4.87 per 8-roll package!
Just to refresh your memory about Target price matching, just bring the circular up to the Target service desk with the Bounty items in your cart and your coupon in hand. Show them the circular. The $5 gift card deal is pre-programmed into their register, so you won't even have to ask for it. Again, you can try to get the promotional buy-ten-save-$3 price, but you should definitely be able to match the regular circular price. Make sure you bring in the entire circular (Target requires this). FYI, Target's price-matching policy is here.
