Save an additional $5 when you purchase two or more select P&G paper products: stack with coupons and Subscribe & Save discounts to get down-to-the-bone discounts

Save $5 when you purchase 2 or more of these select P&G paper products between 3/18/13 and 4/30/13, and you enter code PGPAPERM at checkout.

And, as a plus, if the two items that you're ordering are Subscribe & Save, you can also use them to get the extra 10% Subscribe and Save discount that I talked about here.

I am pretty well-stocked on paper goods, but I didn't want to pass up on this great offer, so I chose two items that were relatively smaller bulk quantities than the rest of the items.  Stay with me here as I walk through these deals; the math and discounts can get a little confusing, but the bottom lines are what count.

Amazon has got 16 double rolls of Charmin Basic for $9.02 on Subscribe & Save.  (This is an Amazon "Add-On Item" but you can ignore that, because we are going to purchase it as a Subscribe & Save item.)  It also has a coupon for $0.25 off (make sure you scroll down slightly on the page and "clip" it), so that lowers the price to $8.77, or $0.55 per double roll ($0.28 per single roll).

Hold that thought.  Next deal.

Amazon has this 6-pack of Bounty "huge rolls" (each roll is the equivalent of 2.5 regular rolls, so it's like getting 15 regular rolls) for $15.59 on Subscribe & Save. It also has a coupon for $0.25 off (make sure you scroll down on the item page and "clip" it), so that lowers the price to $15.34 or $2.55 per huge roll ($1.02 per single roll).

But we are going to do better on both prices, because when we buy both and enter promo code PGPAPERM at checkout, we'll get an additional $5.00 off.  So I'm going to go back and deduct an additional $2.50 off each order.
  • On the 16 double rolls of Charmin, the Subscribe & Save price is $9.02.   Less the $0.25 coupon, it drops to $8.77.  Less the $2.50 promotion, it drops to $6.27.  That comes to $0.39 per double roll or $0.20 per single roll.
  • On the 6 pack of Bounty huge rolls,  the Subscribe & Save price is $15.59.   Less the $0.25 coupon, it drops to $15.34.  Less the $2.50 promotion, it drops to $12.84.  That comes to $2.14 per huge roll or $0.86 per single roll.

Pretty nice deals, but let's go one further.  Let's say that these two Subscribe & Save deals delivered in the same month that I was getting three other Subscribe & Save deals.  That means I qualify for getting 15% off my Subscribe & Save deliveries instead of 5%.   Now we're taking it to a whole other level of savings.

  • On the 16 double rolls of Charmin, the Subscribe & Save price is $9.02 at the 5% level.  But at the 15% level, it's $8.07.   Less the $0.25 coupon, it drops to $7.82.  Less the $2.50 promotion, it drops to $5.32.  That comes to $0.33 per double roll or $0.17 per single roll.
  • On the 6 pack of Bounty huge rolls,  the Subscribe & Save price is $15.59 at the 5% level.  But at the 15% level, it's $13.95.  Less the $0.25 coupon, it drops to $13.70.  Less the $2.50 promotion, it drops to $11.20.  That comes to $1.87 per huge roll or $0.75 per single roll.

Awesomegreat savings on staples that we all need, and you don't even need to buy huge bulk quantities.

Just a word about Amazon Subscribe & Save: selecting Subscribe & Save is a fantastic way to save money.  It's pretty much risk-free, even if you are doing it just to get the additional discount. You can UNsubscribe to Subscribe & Save very easily, by going to your account as soon as your order has shipped. Even if (worse case scenario) you completely forget to unsubscribe, Amazon will not send out an additional order without shooting you a warning email first, giving you ample time to unsubscribe and cancel any additional orders in time. It's pretty much an all-win proposition. Shipping on Subscribe & Save items is always free, even without a Prime membership.

UPDATE:  I just got off the phone with Amazon customer service, as there was a glitch when I could not enter the promo code in conjunction with two Subscribe & Save orders.  You must place the orders individually online first AND THEN call Amazon customer service and ask them to manually put the promo code PGPAPERM into your account.  It's a pain, but it's such a great deal, it's well worth the 30 second phone call.

Good afternoon and thank you so much for this tip! This may be a silly question, but how does one add both items to the cart when using the "subscribe and save" feature? I'm unable to use the $5 off code, so perhaps I'm missing a step?

  2. No, it wasn't you, it was me. I hadn't actually placed my orders yet (wanted to get all my posts in before the email went out), but I just went to do it, and I got an error message when I tried to use the promo code. I just got off the phone with Amazon customer service to find out how to work this in conjunction with two Subscribe & Save orders. You must place the orders individually online first AND THEN call Amazon customer service and ask them to manually put the promo code PGPAPERM into your account. It's a pain, but it's such a great deal, it's well worth the 30 second phone call. I've updated the post and linked to Amazon customer service as well. Thanks!
