I have a canister of kitchen tools sitting on my counter year-round. It is indispensable for tiny kitchens like mine. It takes up a minimal amount of counter space, keeps my most oft-used kitchen tools within easy reach, and frees up precious drawer, shelf or wall space. Kmart has two Basic Essentials tool sets that are priced really well at $29.99. First, the 10-piece Basic Essentials kitchen prep set that is pictured above. I love the modern, clean, stainless look of this set and the price is excellent for what you get: a measuring bowl, utensil holder, solid spoon, slotted spoon, slotted spatula, ladle, whisk, 2-way grater and salt & pepper shakers. All are constructed of easy-to-clean and maintain stainless steel that does not react with food or food odor.
Next up is this 9-Piece Basic Essentials Tub of Tools consisting of a utensil holder, slotted spoon, solid spoon, slotted spatula, ladle, spoon rest, pasta measurer (don't bother keeping this particular tool for Pesach), and salt and pepper shakers, also made of etched stainless steel.
Both of these sets are well-priced at $29.99 (I've seen smaller sets that are not as nice for twice the price) plus variable shipping. Free shipping starts at $59 or pick these up at a local Kmart store for free (especially useful if you're concerned about getting them in time for Pesach).
